[10/15] music on the dance performance of Yujun Company at the end of all the performance , I’ve made an improvisation with 2 dancers just met that night isaak immanuel & Meng-ping Chou (周夢蘋). That was a great emotional moment, audience was totally into it.

[10/19] rest at home, thinking of an intermediate installation, while I’m still recording and interview people around. Using a fan , and micro contact.

[10/20] Breakfast with Maya, she just arrived yesterday to live with us. I woke up her because I thought she would be late for her new job but she said to m se already quit after one day, she doesn’t like the spirit of the gallery, only business and it’s a basement place not good for Tao’s energy. We’re talking about my installation. She said I’m like a witch ; we’re talking about magic and incense. It’s the right timing, because she will help to find a good Taiwanese incense. For today she gave a few of one, made in Taiwan but a Tibetan recipe. This on is medicine also she mentioned. I want to clean the space of the room and also the clothes, she told but the Taiwanese idea that is somebody wear a clothe, the clothe will keep something of the people. She was afraid I would be late, but I told her I choose when I want to go, it’s the advantage of my activities, my schedule is very free and depends of the meeting and circumstances. We wrote some words in my notebook, she was surprised I’m using a red pencil, and said red is a very powerful meaning in the word : 有缘 ( yo yuan) . I remembered the japanese sentance , ichi go icho e 一期一会, the Japanese one is more zen, spiritual and the Chinese is more about Karma. At the end she said , and laughing , oh I’m speaking like an old woman.

The rope is installed. Wanted to make nodes but finally I didn’t, I think using light later and the shadow of the straight line would explode the dimension of the room. I like the vibration of all the ensemble of this maze. Beautiful and delicate, all vibrating into one. Let’s had the position of the bamboo.

the taiwanese incense Maya bought for me is burning. I’m starting to choose the different clothes, their colors, their different materials. Relight the incense.

my first idea was the clothes will touch the body of people , so a very closed sensation and mainly hide to see outside, and after you will listen trhough headphones sound of the area [23/10/2011 22:22:07] samuel andré : also I wanted to use things from there so clothes is cool because it’s very personnal and has his own history [23/10/2011 22:23:03] samuel andré : but now with the back ground of taiwain and the place it exposed I’m thinking of a more ghost and spiritual things, probably I’ll add in the sound and music editing [23/10/2011 22:23:50] samuel andré : so now i’ll work with the light to have great shadows and break the 3d dimension to make a space like out of the world

I think I was unconsciously inspired by the "noren" (暖簾) experience , put to separate and related to "ma" (間) japanese concept . So at one of the entrance, I made one with two pillowcase.

One people of the staff can’t enter the room, because of temple smell and clothes suspended, she is scared. With my assistant , we ’re installing the light, testing different positions, i’m trying to use the shadows of rope clothes bamboo and people to disturbe the 3d perception of space.

To day I’be installed all the clothes. I ddi’nt put everywhere , so the people can have the freedom to be only softly touched by the clothes. The scarry have vanished to a more confortable and cosy place , even if it’s quite strange for people to touch clothes, usually in the museum , it’s forbidden to touch. So some of the visitors of today said to me it’s an interactive work.

Saturday 29th of November, official opening of the installation at 5 pm.

During the night, from 9 pm, a visit of the ruins of the factory is organised with torches. I’ll perform a spatialized imrpovisation ( 4 speakers) with Klaus Bru ( saxophon/ electronics ) and Fao To ( 古琴 (Guqin), Tabla, Mouth-harp, Djembé, kalimba, Hand percussions and other objects ) and dancers : I-hsiang Wang, Meng-ping Chou (周夢蘋), Yujun Ye , Siaoning Jhang (fire dancer) and others.

Opening , finally some different attitude appeared. I’ve stayed all the sunday to observe those different way to use the installation space. But first we had to invite the people to enter the room, because most of the people, was just watched from the outside , or enter only their head. After we made this different attitude appeared, some people just enter and go quickly to the exit. Some were totally running , like scared. The first funny story is the mother and her 2 daughters. One of the kids were listening to the sound, but after a while wanted to go out , but the kids just kept the headphones and didn’t want to quit it. Two guys just stayed there 15min, wandering touching all different clothes and taking pictures in differeants angles....
